This lovely earth-tone rug comes to us from the High Atlas. It is made by two talented weavers, both named Aicha. If you would like to read more about them, you can find a portrait of one of the Aichas in our Stories.

They used a cotton warping and naturally dyed wool yarns, which blend wonderfully with the darker natural wool backgrounds typical of the region.

The magic of botanical dyeing is that it almost always results in a slightly different shade depending on environmental factors.

** All our rugs are unique and personally selected. They reflect the imprint of the Amazigh weaving tradition, the individual creativity of their weavers, and the subtle imperfections of hand weaving. We believe these qualities are what give them their character and charm. The sizes mentioned above do not include fringes.

Inspiration

Sheep’s wool is a wonderful material. No wonder it has been used as part of rug weaving for thousands of years. The softness, warmth and natural surface of wool rugs suit modern homes very well. As well as being beautiful, wool rugs have many other valuable qualities: they have excellent heat and sound insulating properties, they help filter the air and they control humidity.
