This beautiful Hanbel was handcrafted in a village in the High Atlas mountains, where the majority of weavers use the hand-knotting technique for rug making. Only two weavers out of hundred, practice the flat-weaving technique. These weavers create striped or amorphous patterned rugs using wool yarn that they have dyed themselves. This particular rug was created by Abazil Tiaza, known for incorporating charming and unique details in her rugs (check the close-up pictures).

Hanbels are thin, blanket-like rugs with a relatively coarse surface, crafted from rustic wool. We recommend using an anti-slip mat beneath them to prevent slipping and curling. This delightful piece is made from 100% sheep’s wool on a cotton base and features fringes at both ends.

** All our rugs are unique and personally selected. They reflect the imprint of the Amazigh weaving tradition, the individual creativity of their weavers, and the subtle imperfections of hand weaving. We believe these qualities are what give them their character and charm. The sizes mentioned above do not include fringes.
